There’s a common reason why I like Mastodon, blogs or news sites with RSS feeds, and podcasts (which are also RSS). Well, there are many reasons, but a big one of them is having freedom over how I access the content. Instead of being forced to use a proprietary mobile or web interface made for a given social network or publisher, I can use any Mastodon client, RSS reader and podcast player I want. If an app stops serving my needs, I can move elsewhere.
