@mipstian I got an update on some domains seemingly bypassing Filtr and App Privacy Report. Yesterday, I installed Proxyman on Mac to see iPhone’s HTTP traffic in real time. I noticed that Duolingo and Allegro did not make connections to tracking domains I expected when Filtr was on. My new theory is that these apps did DNS lookups (which showed up in my DNS logs), but Filtr was blocking them from actually connecting and sending data. Or maybe I don’t understand Proxyman and did this wrong.

@gracjan@mastodon.online that could be, I guess URL filters might need the domain to be resolved in order to match against the URL. Or maybe the app was just preconnecting to warm up the connection (which isn’t necessarily blocked) and then all the actual tracking calls were blocked.
