Potentially controversial opinion, but I think the advice regarding interpersonal conflict to just figure out to come to peace with other people’s bad behavior because you can’t control them has its root in toxic relational patterns. It’s just another way to shut people up. It’s an absolute recipe for not getting your needs met. Because if you don’t ask for what you need, you will never get your needs met. How convenient.1/2

Speaking your mind is absolutely empowering, even if you don’t get what you want. Idk, keeping quiet has never been the answer for me, and it doesn’t resonate as being an empowered move. It’s a way to tell people to keep quiet and don’t make fuss masquerading as an evolved relational skill. 2/2
