This movie is an American movie based on the British show, The Thick of It. Armando Iannucci, the creator, and the writers, Jesse Armstrong and Simon Blackwell, went on to work with Iannucci on VEEP. Jesse Armstrong went on to create Succession. If you watch these shows, there's a lot of themes and actors cross pollinating these shows.
