Nice write up on how to avoid AI generated quilt patterns, lots of tips I'd not heard before (look for melting scissors!) but the highlight for me was the pic of the "person" sewing a dog bed from the side of the sewing machine ๐Ÿ˜‚ Woodson starts with a description of how much all this shit is hurting her business and my heart aches for her #FuckAI https://swoodsonsays.com/how-to-spot-a-i-generated-sewing-patterns-tutorials/ #Quilting #Sewing

  • I'll admit, I've been fooled at times I often don't look closely because I think to myself, "oh, I can replicate that" and never read the daft instructions Also I mostly go by the look of the fabric - I know what fabric looks like IRL; it's rare AI gets it right in a quilt pic But even I would have realized you don't sew from the side of the sewing machine ๐Ÿ˜‚ I am going to have to look more closely at Etsy reviews. I've started seeing some where the store responds to -everyone- and that's a ๐Ÿšฉ

  • @cafechatnoir I am lucky I've been at this so long, I have trusted sources for the most part. But it's important to keep sharing the message for newbies to find trusted sources for themselves, so yeah, keep saying it, broken record or not

@cafechatnoir @inarticulatequilter In my region, a well known publishing house with tutorials for textile arts and fibre arts gave up. First they were bombed with AI manuscripts (and had not the workpower to check everything), then they got drowned by #AISlop concurrence in shops, lost too much income. They were exhausted.

@inarticulatequilter I would pay extra for patterns that were marketed as human-tested

@inarticulatequilter as funny as it is seeing mutant scissors, this sucks on so many levels. I'm lately doing image searches from before year 2023 and borrowing books & magazines from the library, the local magazines should have at least some standards if they want to keep their subscribers...
