Hmm, does anybody in Minnesota know what that plant is? It looks like a thistle, but the leaves are much more rounded than all I can find Thanks to @donray , this looks very close to a musk thistle , or as @daswarkeinhuhn mentioned, a nodding thistle. Thanks all! You are awesome! #plants #minnesota

@carstenfranke@mastodon.social It looks to me like musk thistle. It’s the first one on the list: https://crops.extension.iastate.edu/encyclopedia/recognizing-and-managing-common-pasture-weeds

@carstenfranke@mastodon.social Seems to be a nodding whistle, which is invasive in Minnesota but native here in Europe https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carduus_nutans

@carstenfranke@mastodon.social It definitely seems like a thistle, but I'm not sure even mastodon is nerdy enough to have niche plant taxonomists on hand, at least not without using hashtags. According to PlantNet (a wonderful app), it could be one of these two thistles, but the confidence isn't super high.
