@Aaidanbird@disabled.social I thought the Akata series was worlds better than HP. Naomi Novik isn't perfect, but she's significantly better than JKR. Loved her standalones. The Scholomance trilogy is much closer to what magic school would look like. Fonda Lee's Green Bone Saga. Chakraborty's Daevabad Trilogy, as well as her latest, which made me cry at the end. Yoon's Phoenix Extravagant. Zhao's Iron Widow. Parker's She Who Became The Sun. SD Okungbowa's Nameless Republic. Tochi Onyebuchi. P. Djèlí Clark.
