@stargazersmith@social.linux.pizza I have featured it many times, I will see if I can find it within older vids and post here for you to take a view. Matilda is a Dob10 Skywatcher

  • @appagalcrochet@mstdn.social That's some real horsepower. Years ago (years!) I had a 10 inch Newtonian, back before the Dob mount became so popular. Then I had an 8 inch homemade Dob for many years, the mirror had a turned down edge. More recently I bought a 6 inch f/5 Newtonian on an EQ mount. I'm old now, and carrying that apparatus around got pretty difficult. I build a Dob mount for the telescope and ended up with a much more portable system. The Dob image shows a needle level (red) mounted on cradle top which shows pointing elevation. The blown up image shows the azimuth indications on the base. I use a star pointer app that shows what's up from any one of 4 star tables, also showing information about each object as well as az/el location. That, the annotated azimuth wheel and the needle level makes finding objects pretty easy. https://afterdark-skies.blogspot.com/2022/01/star-pointer-utility.html?m=1
