I had not heard of this sauce before now. I have never been to Merry Olde England and eaten real English food there and I would like to, preferably while touring gardens and pre-schism churches and monasteries. this looks like a roux-less bechamel sauce where the bread crumbs do the thickening

@LawrenceGerald@poa.st It's well worth trying out, I promise, it's got more texturethan béchamel but is a quite creamy. I always use extra onion because if love onions. There are still good places here and good food aplenty to be had. Just stay well away from the cities should you choose to visit anytime soon.
