So one thing that happened in that job interview I had on Tuesday was that I wanted some clarification on that company also working in the defense space and I phrased it like I normally do (roughly paraphrased):When it comes to killing Russians in Ukraine, I am absolutely your person, but I draw the line at murdering children in Palestine, Lebanon or Iran.(I’ll remark here that I use “killing” and “murdering” very deliberately in that sentence: When I say “murder” I mean what German law calls “Mord”, which is kinda the equivalent to first-degree murder in other countries, though with different requirements than most places. Killing on the other hand is a value neutral term.) Somehow that all that made them all laugh (like: in a positive way). Maybe because I answered the one stereotypical interview question of “if we asked your friends to describe you in one word, what would that be” with “direct”, which I guess me phrasing things like that showed that I wasn’t kidding.
