@rechelon @thomasjwebb i actually had that obsession as a teenager, but i still ended up in a very similar place. I think it’s because i have just enough knowledge to see how much bullshit there is (but then kind of burnt out when trying to get actual skills like programming, so i don’t really have the skills to do anything with/about it).
I’ve learnt that i actually love the tactile aspect of paper. And that i love being outside and being present in the world around me. I think my obsession with tech was to a large part due to wanting to forget my body because of dysphoria.

@enby_of_the_apocalypse @rechelon In my youth, the idea that there was any connection at all between my synthesizer obsession and my transness would not have occurred to me. Then I had to find out I'm a stereotype! There's something about music, video games and hiking trails alike that took the edge off the GD. To me, paper is a technology too but I greedily take the best tech from every era. I like things that can be tinkered with and don't feel like they're imposing rules on me.
