@arichtman@eigenmagic.net @timixretroplays@digipres.club @troberts@theblower.au yeah, continuous hot water need a LOT of energy, which is why they’re normally gas. I think @xssfox@cloudisland.nz has an electric one, from memory it eats 18kW of power from 3-phase when in use.

@jpm@aus.social @arichtman@eigenmagic.net @timixretroplays@digipres.club @troberts@theblower.au yeah 2-18kW depending on how hot you want it. 3 phase / getting 3 phase isn't uncommon and not too hard to get if desired. it's probably not strictly required for instant hot water. I guess from electrical usage point of few - pros, only uses power when you need hot water so can be pretty efficient. cons, if you have time of use tariff, solar or free usage period then you either have to shower during that time or pay a premium.
