As you can see on this map, are the #Netherlands and #Denmark the ONLY two countries in #Europe where May 1st (Labour Day) is NOT a national holiday. Although in Denmark (according to Wikipedia [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Workers%27_Day#Denmark]) many people have a full or half day off. Not in the Netherlands.
Another proof that the Netherlands is NOT a progressive country. Don't come up with Koningsdag, because don't tell me that the birthday of a spoiled man who didn't do anything to deserve this, is more important than labour rights and international solidarity. At least he could move his egoistic birthday party to May 1st (so people could choose). His mother was even worse. She celebrated it today and people used that as a lame excuse to block May 1st, although they could also have two national holidays. 🤷🏻♀️ And of course FUCK the MONARCHY! FREE LABOUR DAY!

@joenepraat@todon.nl the red color for Switzerland is sadly also inaccurate. Only some cantons have the 1st May as a holiday.

@joenepraat@todon.nl@pixelfed.social Fun fact: the fact that the Netherlands doesn't celebrate Labour Day isn't even because King's Day is in April. Labour Day in the Netherlands was abolished by the German occupation in 1940, and wasn't reinstated after the liberation in 1945. Queens Day back then however was on 31 August, and only moved to April when Juliana took the throne in 1948 (effectively in 1949 since Wilhelmina abdicated after Juliana's birthday)
