Social media blurs conversational context in a way that some people aren't set up to handle. In life, if I ask a question in a group setting, it's completely normal for anyone to take a stab at answering it, even if they don't have any particular insight. If I ask the same question on the internet, I'm asking for expert assistance. "Reply guys" are people applying IRL social context to online social context
