You live in a neighborhood where $30/hr is the functioning poverty line, due to rent and utilities prices skyrocketing. Inflation makes a mockery of a *five year* phase in for a modern minimum wage. Why not simply tie wages to inflation off the bat? Or straight up public employment doing work the private sector no longer cares about? I suspect Mamdani's public run grocery store will end up paying more than $25/hr in wages by the time it goes live - two years before this wage bump comes into effect
