I really hope that whatever platform we collectively move to post-GitHub has a system to prevent what happened with GitHub again. To me, enshittification like this and a slow collapse was inevitable simply because the way it was funded and purchased.
That's why I hope that we move to Codeberg. Not for any particular technical merit, but because its values and structure actually align with OSS projects. There is a social system in place to prevent enshittification there.

I actually prefer Tangled for a few reasons, and ERSC looks cool too, but at it's current state I see no reason from the way the two are set up legally - as in they need to make money from their users, and pay back their debts - that will prevent them from just turning into GitHub 2.0 and enshittifying when things take a downturn again.
