@CmykStudent This is such a long awaited feature! Finally it's been worked on! 👍
But I could not come up with a single use case for intentionally and irrevocably destroying image information except when exporting to a rasterized image format. Destructive editing should be removed entirely from all of GIMPs tools ...

@dirk I understand, but we get an equal amount of requests/complaints about any NDE features we add. For instance, we added the "Merge filter" option after painters posted reports that "live filters" interferred with their workflow. Note that this is still very much a work-in-progress. We'll do UI & UX testing once I have an acceptable implementation, so my idea of "merging shapes down" may not be in the final version. We'll see!
