Interesting IRL politics experience yesterday: two guys at a table labeled Save Public Transit. There&#39;s a ballot measure in November that&#39;s critical to BART&#39;s survival, and it needs signatures to even get on the ballot - we happily signed that. But then these guys immediately put another few petitions in front of us, summarized as &quot;eliminating corruption&quot;, and funded by local neolib villains Michael Moritz and crypto spy cam guy Chris Larsen. We declined to sign those.

Then a final petition on extending some benefits to UC employees, eg teachers - funded by a grassroots effort. So it was an interesting "sandwich" of widely popular causes that would benefit working people, and some faux-moderate junk that was funded by billionaires. Can't help but feel that structure was intentional. Something to watch out for in your neighborhood maybe.

@jplebreton@mastodon.social Yeah, those are Mayor Lurie's executive power grab measures. Thanks for the heads-up on this tactic. I hate that they're using transit funding to whitewash it. Lurie also put his name on the local Muni funding measure: it's "Mayor Lurie's Ballot Committee," so transit lovers will think he's good and they should also back the power grab... or conversely, some will come to distrust transit measures.
