“The Midnight Folk” (1927) is a delightful and weird little YA novel, by John Masefield, that was suggested to me by @hypnogoria. It’s the story of a young boy, Kay, in a large mansion run by a dreadful governness. But then things get strange and he’s on a quest to recover his grandfather’s treasure. Yet most of this quest comes through overlapping stories from maids, strange women, talking creatures, characters of legend, and uncovered texts. #Bookstodon 1/?
