@trishagee@mastodon.social been looking for a new position on and off for a few years, and actively since at least September 2025, nothing signed yet. This is the first time in more than 20 years in tech that it takes so long. Actually, most of the previous times, I already had the new plan in place when giving my notice. The current landscape is wild. Most recruiters don't even respond to applications. The ones that do usually blindly trust the LLM behind their ATS. Most of the really good gigs are hidden.

@trishagee@mastodon.social I've been actively searching for 5 months. Employers have become extremely picky and are looking for candidates with the exact set of skills they need for the job: my profile has been declined multiple times late in the process because I lacked professional experience in a specific back-end framework, even though I have experience in similar frameworks I could tap into to quickly learn.
