@scj @kalleboo @WOzFest - I'm aware this is possible to run AIRConfig while it is active and have done it many times. AIR has to be restarted to use the new hosts. I'm thinking about the scenarios for bootstrapping or resetting AIRConfig if someone is setting up first time, or redoing a corrupted file. @WOzFest 's UTM/QEMU GlobalTalk hosts are a good use case, though they come with AIRConfig preloaded. If people are making the case that @kalleboo 's hosts file contains extraneous, stale, incorrect or unresolved hostnames, who else is hosting a better quality file via http: ?

@theirongiant @scj @kalleboo @WOzFest Since the spreadsheet is locked and we can’t even download it anymore, I’m prototyping a simple web app where people can register their zones and then a list can be downloaded by jrouter or AIRConfig. The server will validate zones and mute/disable dead ones. I’ve also got a DDNS update endpoint in there to hopefully solve issues caused by users without static IPs or DDNS. I’m just trying it out now but the goal is easy setup, easy updates, easy ejections, easy config.

@theirongiant @kalleboo @WOzFest yeah, its definitely a chicken-egg problem. For bootstrapping my general recommendation is to add BaroNet manually to get started and then use AIRConfig from that point forward. I don't host my list over HTTP because I don't feel right putting an unauthenticated endpoint with a list of all our insecure networks in one spot that someone nefarious could grab and use.
