do you remember we have been collecting IUPAC names from literature (using Europe PMC) with the 1M names goal? Last August we reached 275 thousand (https://doi.org/10.59350/krw9n-dv417) and since then it really slowed down. I have been continued analyzing recent literature, but new full texts come in irregularly. Yesterday, I switched to using the xml.gz download files instead. That helps. 10k new names in the past 24 hours :) And with that, we mark the 300k IUPAC names :) #openscience #chemistry

a quick update, it works like a charm. getting many new IUPAC names this way, and it seems the 500k will be reached in about 2 weeks, which is quite amazing realizing it was around 290k 2 days ago, when it ran for about a year. (it's 332k right now) I think the difference is simply the many article JATS that come in late, and missed when doing API searches for a certain time period
