While I'm on a morning tear: can we *stop* saying "Companies decided" and "Companies chose to" and the like?
Companies don't have agency, people do. *People* in these companies chose to destroy long-term careers for short-term profits. *People* chose to lay off swaths of their workforce to make a bonus. *People* chose to incentivize the C-Suite with stocks and bonuses tied to harm, not growth. *People* chose to discriminate against minorities because they conflate safety with bigotry. *People* chose to burn the planet with fossil fuels instead of pivot to renewables, *people* chose to mislead the public about scientific findings on sugar and tobacco and fossil fuels and climate change and social media.
None of this was decided by companies; it was people, it's always been people, it will always be people.
Hold the fucking people accountable, stop excusing bad behavior as "oh the *company* chose to".

All I'm saying is if you started arresting the Board Members of Exxon or Meta or the like then behavior will change real fucking fast because *nobody* gets paid enough to go to prison.
