@Gh0stlyM0use @joelvanderwerf @Irenetherogue All very good points. There's a thing called faircamp, which helps artists set up storefronts on their own domains... but that sort of thing is always a lot of work.
In theory, the fediverse should be a good alternative... but I'm unsure whether anyone is trying to do that.

@macronencer @joelvanderwerf @Irenetherogue faircamp sounds interesting. I will have to have a look. I think your fedi idea is the way forward. It's getting the financial system up that would require some coordination. I'm not sure how federating works when cash is involved. You may need to have a centralised server... or a sync'd cryprographic keychain type system.
