RE: https://fosstodon.org/@mwb/116476124401887839 it&#39;s happening huh I&#39;ve kept silent for a long time b/c I hate throwing fellow maintainers under the bus, but the situation around httpx 1.0 (which is developed in private and has a focus on adding a SERVER!?) has become untenable for a project of such importance. I hope we as a community will find a way to navigate this situation gracefully ideally without 20 forks but with a reconciliatory ending. And yes, this is very much adjacent to the MkDocs drama.

@hynek@mastodon.social Is there a public mention that HTTPX now focuses on adding a server? In any case, we wish best of luck for adoption! Zensical, our successor (not fork) of (Material for) MkDocs is exceptionally well received and growing steadily in adoption, now at 650k monthly downloads already.

@hynek@mastodon.social A pillow/PIL-style long term replacement would also be largely fine at the ecosystem level. But yeah, always mixed feelings around the human implications of maintenance situations deteriorating to the point that wholesale forks seem necessary (and that's before the paranoid part of my brain starts pondering the potential impact on supply chain security concerns).
