Road.cc publishes a short article on a driver who has a tally sticker on his vehicle and posts the link to feckbook. Cue eleventy comments about how it's just a joke, cyclists have no sense of humour, and the inevitable escalation into wishing actual harm and violence on people just because they choose to travel on non-motorised (or electrically assisted) two wheels.

Jokes are a means by which people ascertain the acceptability of borderline opinions amongst their social circles. Jokes are how they push the envelope to see how far they can go before their peers push back. This sticker belongs in the same hateful bucket as locker room banter, and the kind of "humour" that was grist for the mill at the working clubs worked by "comedians" like Bernard Manning. It punches down. 2/
