Well yeah. No amount of stability of the base technology can make up for having to track a moving target like HTML.
Did I ever mention that I hate the very concept of a "living standard"? Because I hate the very concept of a "living standard".

@kirtai I can understand the sentiment! I find the HTML Living Standard necessary, but I don’t like the dynamics of it either.
