Kinda related to this, in my day job, I'm currently trying to untangle a mess that's ultimately come about because of content building tools given to non-tech folk that allow them to put together web pages with zero regard as to what's realistic.
It is quite bonkers that there are so many features and so much functionality taken for granted as just going to work. #webDev

@pete@masto.hypertelia.com I learnt HTML through a CLI text editor on Vax/VMS Dreamweaver was an absolute revelation. I drew the line at CSS and JavaScript though. Totally unnecessary. I had websites for my university archery, ju-jitsu, fencing, and LRP clubs. Probably less than 500kb for the lot.
