Fuck it, I'm going down the rabbit hole...

Mmm delicious jaggies. I think watching this on an SD CRT TV looked fine but the transfer to youtube maybe needed a blur pass to look right. But jaggies is good it means we're seeing the original pixels.

On closer examination I think the 4k one was based on this original, not a badly compressed version. The weirdness is because it's getting confused by trying to make sense of the jaggies. I actually found another, much better up-scale of the original. It's still not perfect but stuff doesn't shift shape from one frame to the next.
