as well as explicit reminders for those growing up in _this_ millennium that designers back in the day *didn't have* SPICE, CAD, or even (in many cases) calculators

"how did they make schematics before CAD?" with... physical stencils! (i'm old enough to have handled some of these as 'obsolete hand-me-down' objects, but young enough to have always had CAD around) apparently in my father's day universities were first starting to drop "drafting" as a mandatory course/module. seems to be completely gone nowadays, replaced by computer clicky-clicky hell
