Back in a time where it felt like you could "know all the bloggers" I met @anildash We both went on to do a lot of tech stuff: me with MetaFilter, the Flickr Foundation and various library things; him with Six Apart, Glitch, Fastly and, of course, Prince scholarship.
This week I concluded a long email-back-and-forth essay talking to him about the Old Web, and he wrote a lovely piece about the Flickr Foundation.

I really should be more impressed as a Flickr old school member that it has even survived, but what’s impressing now is how well it’s being maintained here in the present. I shouldn’t take for granted feeling confident that my content there will remain in a stable condition. It’s super-satisfying to find a static link I posted 10-15 years ago to a Flickr photo that’s still right where I left it. The cost of my pro account to me is the cost of maintaining this thing for everyone. And yes, especially NASA.
