This ANZAC Day, I'm reflecting on the horrors of war. Many commemorations of war slip into talking about glory, bravery, and just causes. I think that the best we can do for those who have suffered through war, as both combatants and civilians, is to face our history unflinchingly. To be able to see the complexity of war, including the fact that it has frequently served those in power rather than deeper values of freedom and justice. Lest we forget.
