@pondskater you're welcome, but beware: it's not gorgeous in lots of cases :D. Every time you have an inner corner (happens in every inner perimeter if 2d geometry has hole, but can be in outer perimeter too, like in letter v) it's getting uglier, the sharper the corner is. Rounding inner corners helps, and so does increasing of $fn, but it's still an approximation. roof() is still a lot better.
