@paulbiggar (apologies for the duplicate post, I saw it come up on Linkedin too and wasn’t sure which was better for discussion / whether this was auto-cross posted.) My concern would be that the kind of infrastructure needed to do this in a centralised way — especially for video — is going to be very expensive, and that kind of expense is what usually seems to push people to take VC funding, which is exactly what this project is intending to avoid. I don’t doubt they’re well-intentioned and have no wish to stab anybody in the face but it does seem to me that decentralisation is an advantage in that regard. And yes, as you rightly say decentralisation has disadvantages too but I wonder if that’s inevitable: maybe it’s just not possible to have it both ways.
