@johannab I see what you are saying and you do make a compelling argument. Maybe allowing single sign in with google or (god forbid) facebook has its uses.
But also, someone can read your posts and profile without signing in, they just can’t reply. So you could make a simple one click sign up which would use an external authentication service. Not a terrible idea, but the idea of someone using a facebook ID to sign in to Mastodon does turn my stomach

@CaptMorgan Indeed, mine too. And I can foresee that enabling that enables much more abuse, in both directions, than is offset by lowering the perceived friction to leaving FB instead. I appreciate your (& others) indulgence of my treating my timelines like something of a rubber duck this week. I'm deep into a niche space from my perspective of being a "technical services" integrator/analyst, with a particular use case/user case on my mind.
