Every time I read/someone tells me that their partner is "very jealous and that's why they need those rules to feel safe but it's fine", I think about my first boyfriend (monogamous relationship), who described himself as very jealous and yet somehow never made up a single rule for me to follow or complained about the time I was spending with other people. Instead, he worked on it by himself. And he worked on it even harder when I came out to him as bi because, in his words, "it would be both absurd and impossible to be jealous of literally all your friends". All those controlling partners I keep hearing about are less mature than a 16 year old.
