@hweimer@fediscience.org We used to have issues like that with under-supported OSS solutions, so the admin decided to give that money to Microsoft so we can complain about Microsoft instead of our own IT staff. 🤡

@hweimer@fediscience.org It is, i went through a project testing if we could use Matrix as a replacement for BigTech - i ended up terminating it, i feared the support need was to high - only because of this weird identity confirmation - its not user friendly at all.

@hweimer@fediscience.org Sad to read this, let's hope these are just infant diseases? I also feel like IT departments are not used anymore to get their hands dirty after so many years of reliance on Microsoft.

@hweimer@fediscience.org I have gone through a similar situation, and yes, super discouraging. When using @matrix@mastodon.matrix.org Element clients (mostly web and Android) recently at the work place, I made use of authenticating a new session through an already existing one, which works smoothly. Also, setting back the client (respectively flushing its cache completely) and trying to load the recovery key again might help. Sorry for not having any better advice than that.

@hweimer@fediscience.org this is what we like to call a "matrix moment"
