LT8362 (60V) and LT8361 (100V switch) boost/inverting/SEPIC converters are a pretty good match for a helper supply that needs to start up at 3V from a rail that's at 48V nominal. I have a soft spot for SEPIC converters and I cannot lie.

I really enjoy making eval circuits / breakouts for stuff. (Maybe I should offer that as a service for a small fee. $Person gets the board with optional customization, I get the hands-on experience.. under the condition that I can publish the result as an open source deliverable.) My MP8862 board for reference: https://github.com/MisterHW/EVAL-MP8862

  • @MisterHW Good find! I'll have to try this one out next time I need a buck-boost. That's an impressively wide input range, and the robust short-circuit response is a very cool feature
