Found some notes for an unwritten (iirc) Discardia essay about letting go of the web / tech future we accidentally built.
Clearly calling it out as a eulogy with all that “it is dead” means. Calling out the baggage we brought we didn’t know we were carrying about growth being good, all the classist bullshit about the non-techie idiots we threw around without realizing our privilege, all the bias we built into our techno-utopia visions, ...

...all the willful ignorance of the details of how the work really happens & of the human fuel that feeds fires of industry, & how we didn’t acknowledge we were making an industry & that the industrial complex needs regulation if it isn’t going to poison us. So here we are at the gravesite of our illusions. Remembering the good & acknowledging the awful. It’s that classic movie scene—& isn’t how we relate everything to movie tropes such a characteristic thing about those of us who made the Web?
