https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rtYW9n5gHY Apparently, the cheapest way of sending video down a wire still is good old composite video, even if it looks like that wire isn't shielded in any way.
TBH, I wouldn't know what else to use. SDI hasn't really found its way into all niches previously occupied by composite video.

@karotte sdi still feels like being an enterprise solution, where composite video was adopted on so many consumer products like entertainment systems, entry class cameras, etc.

@karotte niche security stuff still has this AHD hanger-on which is basically higher res progressive scan composite. But yeah it turns out analog is good because degradation is progressive not sudden, so it’s way easier to deal with the tradeoffs of damaged gear, long cables, etc.
