“But renewables can’t power heavy industry like nuclear or fossil fuels.” is an argument I’ve encountered often. Meanwhile, a gold mine, which involves mining and crushing hard rocks, has managed to run on 93.8% renewables for a solid month, they are aiming to scale up to 100%. #solarpower #renewables

@bjn@mstdn.social It is a bit weird how people categorise some electricity (renewables) as a bit "girly" and only suitable for fripperies like homes and light industry while other electricity (nuclear and fossil) is properly "manly" and can power manly things like mines and steel mills.
