🧓 Living in a retirement home 🏘️ is very revealing in that we see what's deep in the heart of some relatives. The way some families treat their elderly "Loved Ones" can be appalling😠 and heartbreaking💔 .. "Sam" doesn't need this!!" said as they grab an object and callously march off toward the dumpster. Not a word, not a request or consultation with "Sam". "This" being "Sam's" most cherished possession. Dear relative: Sam will never allow you to see his broken heart due entirely to your thoughtlessness but after you leave, I will see his tears and hear his sobs of deep despair. 😭 And I promise you, because I've observed this many times, he will pass much sooner than he should because you valued *your* ego over that of the person who spent a lifetime caring for you. Old folk give up on self-care when they feel you abandoned respect for their feelings. He might stop eating-it's a terrible way to die...but not uncommon.
