I'm at a writer's retreat. When I arrived, we were offered fruit cake and cheese, which seems to be a very Yorkshire delicacy.
So I'm curious. Have you ever had fruit cake & cheese?
"Yorkshire connection" could mean that you were in Yorkshire at the time, or you have family from Yorkshire, etc.
