Pro tip: if your company's name and your mobile app name are unrelated, ask yourself why you're developing a product that you don't want people to remember or find easily

@kevlin Good question! And you remind me of the detective work needed to tie a line on a bank statement via PayPal to an item bought on Ebay*, or to tie any courier delivery message with its purchase, so I can know what's arriving. Every purchase generates at least 6 e-mails that don't obviously belong together. The Ebay seller account doesn't match the physical shop name, which doesn't match the registered business name. *I love everything else about Ebay, getting better stuff from genuine small sellers, a pleasure in complete contrast with the 'evil river' monster Amazon that Cory Doctorow can describe better than I can.

@kevlin iirc MicroPro eventually renamed their company to Wordstar

@kevlin Because you aspire to developing multiple products (that you don't want people to remember).

@kevlin if you call your app "my product-name" then it ends up at M in the morning list of apps, making it difficult to find for anyone looking for product-name.

@kevlin some office locker had an app that was not named after the company nor the locker product. maybe, just maybe android should allow additional keywords for apps
