Over 10 years ago when we moved to this house we got a big John Deere lawnmower tractor thingy to cut the acre of grass we have. It was big, loud, but mostly worked. Of course after so long it had some maintenance issues like a tire that slowly loses air, a temperature gauge that didn't work anymore, and a broken spring on the chute. Used it on Sunday.
But it's loud... uses gas... and afterward I smell like exhaust. We talked about replacing it with an Ego riding mower but they're expensive.

Well my wife picked a price and listed it as-is on Facebook marketplace and we sold it in less than 24 hours for a wad of cash that is just about the same amount as a brand new electric Ego riding mower. So... basically.... we're getting an almost-free upgrade. I can't tell if this means this is a terrible idea or what. Like... why buy a used gas mower for the price of a brand new electric one? Are we just ahead of the curve here or is there good reason people out there still preferring gas?
