Oh, and if that's binary code, how does the compiler mangle substitutions, and how does that interact with the strings command?
Your test may just have revealed even less than we think.

@leeloo @Sarnau @mayo @dasdom It reveals that someone did write “Cannot delete because already installed.” (No more, no less.) How substitution strings are constructed is well documented, so I am very confident that “Cannot delete because already installed.” does not contain any substitution marker. I used the strings (that does things on executables on macOS) command to simplify the command/output for the post but I did verify it without strings.
