@SJohnRoss terrible conclusions from historical explorers, scientists, and other luminaries about why something exists in the world are a beautifully rich vein. Taking those things and making them *true* or *even more wrong* are both fantastic.
Phlogiston? Real!
4-element universe? You got the 4 wrong and the universe works fundamentally differently; it's still 4, though, just not the 4 you think.
Geocentric astronomical model? You got it right. But what's outside the sphere, and what causes stars to twinkle?

@trib Re "elements:" I was very proud of this paragraph, in one of my previous books. 😊
