I just made a piece of 2x4 out of firewood 🎉
Using my two uncalibrated jointers (one configured to face-flatting, the other for 90° square) and my table saw (as calibrated from the factory a couple years or so ago), I was rapidly able to turn a random firewood wedge into a short but reasonable facsimile of dimensional lumber in about three minutes. It’s not exactly perfect, but it’s definitely nicer than most of the stuff I find in the cut-off bin at Home Depot or whatever. I use little pieces like this constantly for home repairs and/or installation stuff.
