@fasterthanlime@hachyderm.io my guess is taking production hostage. It takes time to ramp up local production so China probably will threaten to withhold all export in that category. E.g. Europe wants to produce batteries domestically, China says “fine, no batteries at all from me then”. China might also limit exports of upstream goods like manufacturing equipment and raw materials.
