Protect public libraries at all costs. Contrary to what conservatives believe (that a library is just a "homeless shelter") libraries are community touchstones that are rich with knowledge and resources. They are the last place one can visit to simply... exist. Protect. Them.

@marisa@mastodon.scot first of all, yes. Libraries are awesome. Personally, I think the right hates libraries because it assists people to become educated. An educated voter base doesn't tend to vote conservative. And the moneyed class loses a bit of their edge if it can't give their offspringing a head start with a decent education.

@marisa@mastodon.scot conservatives also have been saying that libraries distribute obscene and immoral material to children. Well, libraries usually offer a few copies of the Bible, but that book "somehow" gets a pass...
